About us

We started with one clinic and a simple belief.

That no one in Uganda should struggle with their mental health alone, or go without care because of where they live or what they earn.

Our story

From a clinic room to whole communities.

Serenity Minds Uganda opened its doors on Ndejje Zanta Road, off the Kampala–Entebbe Road, as a place where people could talk to a qualified professional in confidence. Clients came with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and the quiet weight of grief.

We soon saw that the people who most needed care were often the ones least able to reach a clinic. Stigma kept them silent. Distance and cost did the rest. So the clinic created an organisation to carry its work beyond its walls: into parishes and trading centres, into schools and workplaces.

Today the two work as one. The clinic provides professional care. The organisation runs outreach camps, school programmes and training, and helps people who cannot afford full fees still get the help they need.

Our vision

To enhance the quality of life for people affected by mental health conditions, and to foster mentally healthy communities through inclusive care, awareness and empowerment.

Our mission

To deliver accessible, youth-friendly and culturally responsive mental health services; to raise public awareness; and to build the capacity of professionals committed to resilient, mentally healthy communities.

What guides us

Four commitments behind every session.

Dignity
Every person is treated with respect, whatever they are going through.
Confidentiality
What you share stays private. Trust is the start of all care.
Reach
Care should not depend on where you live or what you can pay.
Evidence
We use approaches proven to help, and we keep learning.
